Before discussion begins, I think we should narrow down the category of "Cowboy" because, in fact, Bandits are a sub-genre of Cowboys. Perhaps we should consider Bandits vs. Sherifs, Deputies, and other Lawmen. Or maybe Bandits vs. Gunslingers, Vengeful Youth whose parents were killed by said Bandit/Bandits, or Gamblers/Traveling Showmen.

I agree with Trey's statement, as the category of cowboy is similair, for example, to weather. There is all sorts of weather, ie storms, rain, sleet, snow, drought, etc. The same goes for cowboy. To add to Trey's list of examples, I'd like add the wandering gunman/cattleman who stumbles upon a range war between two rival ranches, or a group of gunmen who defend a Mexican village against a ravaging group of banditos. Examples for the first one include almost any Halmark channel original movie, or made for T.V. movie starring Tom Selleck, and examples for the second include: The Magnificent Seven and The Three Amigos. Which reminds me of another example, the ballad- singing cowboy familiar to the American Cinema scene of the 1930s and 40s. Who doesnt remember the wonderful cowboy tunes of Gene Autry and Tex Williams?

Another great addition to the Warrior vs. Pillager topic. Cowboys (men of the law, or people above the law) and bandits play into this discussion perfectly. And it also shows that powerful things come with a good mustache...

Then there are those of us who avenge family members who were wronged by the Law.
