Robots vs. Pirates

I know this is a variation from the epic struggle between pirates and ninjas, but I figured it was close enough.  Robots would do nicely to complete the Trinity.  This is the Protector, an autonomous machine gun armed boat that is set to hunt down the pirates of the world's oceans.  The US Navy and Coast Guard could have a big hit on their hands.  The article was not clear as to whether or not a ninja transport version was on the way.  (via)

Wow! Rather than simply theorizing about Pirate vs. (insert other combatant) battles, some one has gone out and built something to REALLY fight pirates!

Let me also say that this is in no way a deviation from what we do here and Warrior vs. Pillager. In fact, it IS what we do. Rather than simply arguing about who would win in a fight, a pirate or a ninja, we attempt to launch the theory to new heights by including other participants, relaying historical facts, and providing new insights (such as this post).

So anytime you feel obliged to do so, do not hesitate to add somebody/something else to our discussions. And if you read back a bit, you will see that I have already mentioned robots on various occasions.

i am afraid of Robots...especially those that are developed to destroy a very fierce Pillager or Warrior (i.e. pirates). Robots might actually have to be in their own category, but my concern is this.
Robots are programed, therefor their fighting style is dependant upon their creator, and the AI that is builing upon their mistakes. Deep Blue, the computer chess master, is an example of such a machine. It has cognitive battles that it was programmed to have, however, it could learn from its mistakes and ultimately beat the best human player handily.
I will not say too much about Robots on the internet, a forum that they police heavily, but I will raise my concern again about the cross-over situation. What if a robot was programed to have two fighting styles/life styles? Would he be the ultimate warrior? Or would the two parts inside him/her/it have an internal battle thus destroying the robot?
Or would one side win...pirate or ninja?
